#FashionTips: How to go thrift shopping like a pro

When it comes to buying clothes, shoes or accessories, nothing beats the one on one experience you get to have with new items.

You are free to select and deselect items as you please until you finally settle on something you want.

However, with thrift shopping you cannot afford this luxury as some of these shops not only have terms and conditions but the items are also never brand new. This is why before you decide to go thrift shopping, whether online or at a flea market, there are certain tips you need to arm yourself with to help you shop like a pro.

Here are some:

Patience is everything

Do not be in a hurry to buy something because of the price or how hard it is to find it. Do your research first, walk to three or four more vendors, compare prices and settle on the best deal.

Do not let your impatience come in the way of getting the best prices on items.

Also flea markets are big, the more you roam the more you are likely to get good stuff.

Always bargain

A good shopper always knows the first price a vendor says is never the real price of an item.

Do not be quick to buy inflated items without at least saving yourself some few bucks. Not unless the prices are fixed, give yourself a shot with bargains and you might just be shocked how low the prices can go.

Dress the part

For online shopping this might not apply but for flea markets dress like one of the people. When you go dressed like you are worth a million dollars, you are likely to pay more for everything you purchase.

However, when you dress like you just woke up, you are likely to get fair prices. Most vendors judge their clients by their appearances.

Always know your size

This might be the number one reason why most people hate shopping online or at flea markets.

You obviously don’t have the luxury of fitting clothes so chances that you might buy something that isn’t in your size are very high.

Never gamble when shopping, always know your size and what it translates into before making a purchase.

Always ask for their terms of service

Before making a purchase, always ask a vendor or an online shop their terms of service.

For instance, do they agree to refunds or exchange when a cloth or shoe doesn’t fit, and how long does it take before the agreement expires.

Most people will just shop and later complain they were duped without any prior agreements.

Bonus tip: Before shopping online, do your research and ensure the shop is legit and functional to avoid being scammed.
